Armando Cappa Kyoshi was born in Argentina, South America where in 1968 he started training in Judo. After his family moved to the United States in the spring of 1972, he began his training in Kyokushin Karate under the expert guidance of Steve Senne, who was at the time the Vice Chairman of the Kyokushin Organization (IKO 1). Shihan began teaching in 1976 as an Ik-Kyu, a top level brown belt and in 1980 he founded his own dojo. Over the span of over 40 years, Cappa Kyoshi obtained a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Ju-Jitsu, and studied other Martial Arts such as Okinawan, Japanese Karate, Korean Karate, Kung Fu, and Tai Chi Chuan. This knowledge excelled him in the competition arena and in several national tournaments where he placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in both kumite and kata. His achievements do not end with just these accolades; in 1992 Cappa Kyoshi went to Hong Kong and Mainland China to further his studies in Acupuncture. There, he received his Naturopathy Doctor degree from the Naturopathy Association. Cappa Kyoshi currently holds a 6th Degree Black Belt in the AKKO and in the fall of 2006, he accepted the position of Vice President for the AKKO.
